Stem Cell Controversy
It is true that stem cells have been surrounded by controversy for many years. Most of this comes from the discovery of the first stem cells in human fetuses. The growing fetus has many cells that can and will form all the cells and tissues of the body. These cells have tremendous healing potential in others, but the use of fetal cells has significant ethical issues and faces many restrictions in the United States. In addition to the controversy over fetal cells, there have been concerns over individuals offering stem cells they have “off the shelf” for sale. Most of these have occurred overseas. Deep concerns exist about the quality and safety of some of these types of stored stem cell treatments. Using stem cells from your own fat (autologous adipose-derived) avoids all of these controversies.
