Sore and Sleepy from Rotator Cuff Pain? Try These Tips

If you are living with a rotator cuff injury, you already know that it is often difficult to get comfortable, especially at bedtime. One of the most common complaints we hear at Innovations Stem Cells from individuals living with rotator cuff injuries is that sleeping is painful, frustrating and difficult. Here are some tips that may help you be more comfortable at bedtime with your rotator cuff injury:

Ice. Ice down your injured shoulder for 15 to 20 minutes before you go to bed. Icing can help to reduce the inflammation and pain associated with your injury.

Medication. If you're feeling pain before you head to bed, take pain medication - either your prescription or over-the-counter nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen or naproxen.

Relax. We know that it's hard to relax when you're hurting, but try to find an activity that takes your mind off your discomfort, such as reading or doing a crossword puzzle. Eventually, you will relax and get tired.

Get Comfortable. Depending on your injury, you may need to try a few different positions to get comfortable enough to get a restful night's sleep. We recommend laying on your uninjured side. Some patients feel more comfortable sleeping upright or reclined in a chair or on pillows. You may also find that adding a pillow under your arm can provide more support and comfort. Try a few different positions until you find the one that works best for you.

Stem Cell Therapy. If you're tired of struggling to get better sleep with your rotator cuff injury, you should consider relieving your pain and inflammation through stem cell therapy that uses your own adipose fat stem cells. Stem cell therapy can help your tissues heal, which in turn makes you feel better and gives you back your sleep!

You don't have to live with rotator cuff pain. Find out how Innovations Stem Cell can help relieve your pain and give you back a good night's sleep. Call us today at 214-256-1462.
